A protective plastic insert is a necessary consumable for “chameleon” masks, i.e. masks with an automatic darkening filter (ADF). The automatic darkening filter itself is not just specially tinted glass, but a thin electronic device that will be damaged if, for example, molten metal splashes during welding or the mask is carelessly placed with the filter on a hard surface and scratched.

To prevent damage to the filter during operation and extend its life, protective plastic inserts are used. The inserts protect the light filter from both sides:

from the inside, where a person looks directly with his eyes - this is the internal protective insert

from the outside, where the effect of temperature and splashes is maximum - this is the front protective insert

The inserts are made of polycarbonate, a plastic material that resembles glass in its optical characteristics, that is, its use allows you to work comfortably on the one hand, and on the other hand, its use is safer and more cost-effective than if the protective inserts were made of ordinary glass. Polycarbonate is a light and at the same time durable material.

If we consider the general case, then choosing the right protective insert is quite easy - it is enough to know the dimensions of the grooves on the mask, and if a certain unique size is needed, then it can be cut to the required parameters.
